چکیده

(1) Background: Well-known monosodium glutamate (E-621, MSG), originally used as a food flavor enhancer, was approved approximately in all countries, but the toxicity versus safety of (MSG) are still unclear due to variable scientific toxicological reports. Moreover, it reported trigger elevated frequencies nausea and headaches humans provide deleterious effects on laboratory animals. The objectives present study were (i) estimate possible toxic additive MSG (ii) ameliorating protective dietary supplement spirulina (Spirulina platensis) biochemical parameters blood damage produced organs Swiss mice after applying supplementary daily dose for 4 weeks. (2) Methods: conducted 20 mature mice, which randomly organized into four groups five mice. treatments (I) control group, fed only animal feed drinking water; group II MSG1, received 1 mL MSG; III MSG0.5, treated with 0.5 (IV) MSGS, (aiming reduce toxicity). (3) Results: At end experiment, demonstrated passiveness regarding behavioral aspects. As we hypothesized, reached similar values no histopathological observations have been found. Altogether, our findings evidenced that leads changes kidneys caused important modifications serum. Noticeably, potential effect Spirulina platensis proved described by using FTIR spectroscopy technique. (4) Conclusions: A diet rich antioxidants other plant-derived bioactive compounds may healthy nutrition, alleviating side some additives.

Protective Effects of Dietary Spirulina platensis against Cadmium-Induced Oxidative Stress in Gills of Rainbow Trout

Background: Contamination of feeds with cadmium leads to oxidative stress in vital tissues such as gills and affects the fish survival. Therefore, an increase in the capacity of the antioxidant defense system and detoxification system of fish may reduce adverse effects of pollutants. This study investigated the protective effects of microalga Spirulina platensis against oxidative stress in gill...

Effect of dietary supplement of Spirulina platensis on immune indices complement and lysozyme of benny fish Mesopotamichthys sharpeyi (Günther, 1874)

Effects of different levels of spirulina dietary supplementation on some immune parameters of Benny Mesopotamichthys sharpeyi fingerlings were investigated in an 8 weeks experimental period. Dried and powdered spirulina algae in five levels of 0, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5 and 10.0 % was added to the experimental diet .Experimental fish were fed to satiation twice daily. Results indicated that the amount of...

Effects of Dietary Supplementing of Spirulina Platensis and Chlorella Vulgaris Microalgae on Hematologic Parameters in Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats

Background: Microalgae are known to have beneficial effects on health. On the other hand, studies have reported negative effects of diabetes on hematological parameters. Effects of Spirulina platensis (SP) and Chlorella vulgaris (CV) microalgae, singly and combined, on hematological parameters in diabetic rats are not still studied. Thus, the present study was conducted to investigate the effec...

Mineral profile of edible algae Spirulina platensis

Spirulina platensis, is a photosynthetic, filamentous, spiral-shaped, multicellular and bluegreen micro alga. As it contains chlorophyll a, like higher plants, botanists classify it as a micro alga belonging to Cyanophyceae class; but according to bacteriologists it is a bacterium due to its prokaryotic structure. Mexicans (Aztecs) started using this microorganism as human food. Its chemical co...

Protective Role of Spirulina platensis against Acute Deltamethrin-Induced Toxicity in Rats

Deltamethrin is a broad-spectrum synthetic pyrethroid insecticide and acaricide widely used for agricultural and veterinary purposes. However, its human and animal exposure leads to hepatonephrotoxicity. Therefore, the present study was undertaken to examine the hepatonephroprotective and antioxidant potential of Spirulina platensis against deltamethrin toxicity in male Wistar albino rats. Delt...
